Mystery Novels Are Very Popular

The popularity of mystery novels continues to grow, seeing as it is the intrigue that draws readers to them. Some consider mystery novels as mental stimulators and enjoy finding all the clues and solving the mystery before the end of the book. Others enjoy letting the mystery unfold right up to the conclusion. There are those that find these books to be an outlet, so that they do not have to think about what is actually happening in their actual lives. Most mystery novels are easy to read and easily put down as needed. You can often pick up the mystery and remember exactly where you left off reading previously.

Mystery tales go back to the time before Scheherazade. She told some mystery stories in the “One Thousand and One Nights” novel. Modern mystery is thought to have begun with Edgar Allen Poes’ “The Murders in the Rue Morgue,” which was published in 1841. “The Woman In White” was the next mystery novel, published in 1860 and written by Wilkie Collins. Collins also wrote “The Moonstone” in 1868, along with several other mysteries.

Mystery novels cover more than just murder mysteries. The mystery genre includes stories of the occult or supernatural events, even if no crime were committed. Hardboiled crime fiction was first used during the latter part of 1933 in the “Dime Mystery” age. Any suspense story is also considered part of the mystery family.

Interest in mysteries has increased with the number of detective stories now on television. The internet has also offered a new window of information and, due to the number of articles and blogs devoted to mysteries and mystery writers, the popularity grows.
