Sue Grafton

Sue Grafton is a very creative writer who is adored by many for her ex husband induced, hate-based and expressive novels. Before she really got into it though, she wrote several novels, two of which were published. After that she went to Hollywood where she wrote several movies and screenplays. Grafton did not care for the Hollywood way of life.

She was divorced twice and has been married to Steven Humphrey for the past 20 years. She had a very long, bitter divorce and custody battle with one of her ex husbands. She would think up ways to harm or kill him in her vivid imagination, but she knew they were harmless thoughts. She decided to put her thoughts on paper and started the series known as the Alphabet Novels.

She sat down and wrote every crime that she could think of, beginning with the letter A through the letter Z. Then she started writing her novels; the first was "A is for Alibi" in 1982. She has written one novel per year, but is beginning to slow down because it is hard writing a novel in a year’s time. The public and her publishers do not want her to slow down.

Her stories are based in a town called Santa Teresa, California and are written using a female private investigator named Kinsey Millhone. She writes her novels as if Kinsey were a real person instead of a fictional character. She will not sell the film and television rights to her books and made her children promise not to after her death.

Her daughter got married at her home and the ex husband who started this ordeal showed up. They were civil to each other, but she felt satisfaction in the fact that he came to her home and saw how she was living.
