It is very important for children to read. Reading is usually the primary way that we first absorb information. Reading is a valuable skill and can help children in several ways. Mystery books for children are great options. They not only broaden their imaginations, but also teach them analytical and problem-solving skills while they try to solve the mystery before they reach the climax. There are numerous different mystery books for children of all ages.
Small children will love the “Cookie Dalmatian” series of mystery books. Cookie is the creation of an eastern Pennsylvania middle school teacher and there are three books in the series. Currently, the “Cookie Dalmatian” series is only available for purchase online or through mail order, but little kids are sure to love them.
Another great mystery series for kids is “The Boxcar Children.” There are several books in this series, and it follows a group of orphaned children on their adventures. Similar in tone to the classic mystery series for children “Nancy Drew” and “The Hardy Boys,” these four siblings find themselves in some sticky situations, but are always able to solve the mystery.
Other popular mysteries for children include the “Goosebumps” series, the “Nancy Drew” series, “The Hardy Boys” series, and of course, J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series. Each of these books can teach children valuable lessons, often without them knowing it. They learn problem solving and critical thinking skills from reading these mystery books, along with the themes of teamwork and doing the right thing. So encourage your children to read, especially mysteries; they will thank you later.
