Thomas Perry's Style of Writing:

Thomas Perry writes mystery novels though some of his earlier work was classified as suspense. Perry has a writing style that is uncommon in the writing world. While most writers are in it for the money, or ‘what comes to mind,’ his style is based on dedication and longevity. To some this may not be a style of writing, but to a writer that dedicates his life to his work, it shapes the very words being written.

Perry doesn’t write for the money or for fame. He writes for the readers, for the ones who keep coming back for more of his work. His novels have been around a long time, and his fan base is large, but it still doesn’t change who he is as a writer.

When most mystery series become stale and boring, Perry finds way to add some surprises and new personalities to some old characters. Mystery novels are usually set in series because it is hard to build a character from one story. Usually a reader becomes involved with the character and wants to know how the future unfolds. Perry took the basics of this, understood it and built a writing career out of marketing it.

When a character became boring to Perry, he automatically assumed that his readers would be bored as well. So he left that character alone until it became possible to breathe new life into the very being of the character. This is the style of Thomas Perry and his work will affect the Mystery World long after he has gone.
