Anne Perry, a convicted murderer when a teenager, has become a very famous mystery writer of today. She writes genre fiction and historical murder mysteries. These take place in Victorian London, and are very character oriented. At times, she strays from mysteries and writes fantasies about good and evil or Christmas stories.
A movie, Heavenly Creatures, was made about her life. Due to her conviction of the murder of her best friend's mother at the age of 17, she has an insight into life like no other mystery writer of her time. She served time in prison for five years. Anne has penned forty-seven novels and several short stories. Thomas Pitt, a detective, is the center of several of her books. He is a member of the London police department. William Monk, a policeman and private detective who lost his memory in a coach accident in 1856, is the focus of fifteen novels. Anne suggests that her period writing of London is in an era of the "end of history and the beginning of the modern world." People were discovering who they were and who they wish to be in her novels. "One Thing More" was about a poor girl who eventually tries to save the King in 1793.
Although Anne Perry had tuberculosis through the age of 13 and had terrible things happen in her life, she has recovered to become a religious, thoughtful woman who is an excellent writer. Her website, www.anneperry.net, reveals the inner personality of an extraordinary author. She continues to write and has been featured on several television programs.
