Thomas Perry has a philosophy which elevates him above many other mystery writers. He feels to improve as a writer one must keep writing and observing people. His mysteries have become very well read throughout the United States. He has completed fifteen novels and is working on his sixteenth book.
When Mr. Perry began writing, his first book was called "The Butcher's Boy." It was about a professional killer who was very good at his job. Somehow his employers decided they needed to get rid of him and the novel tells about his cross-country escape from them. Adventures take place that involve police departments as well. He received the Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for the best first novel.
Thomas Perry's life began in 1947 and he has a B.A. Degree and a PH Degree in English. His life experiences have helped him in writing his novels as he has been a commercial fisherman, factory laborer, university administrator and teacher as well as a writer and producer of prime time network TV shows. He lives in California with his wife and two daughters.
Other novels that have been best sellers are a series of six novels about Jane Whitefield and eight other mysteries. The Jane Whitefield novels have become very popular and many letters have been written to Mr. Perry to write more novels about her. He is in the process of writing "Runners" a new Jane Whitefield story. He has not written one for several years "giving her a rest" so he feels it is time again and it is due in January 2009. Reading the novels by Thomas Perry can keep you "on the edge of your seat."
